Which workout is better? Is a bodybuilding split routine better than doing circuits? How do I pick and plan my workout?
Please note that these are merely my opinions:
If you are striving to be a bodybuilder than yes a bodybuilding split routine works best.
If you are an athlete than you want an all around workout that will help your particular sport.
Moms, Dads and your weekend warrior or someone just trying to stay fit, here's the beauty. All of the above still need core training. I know the word is overused by everyone but hey everyone pretty much understands what it is right? Ok we all need core training. If it's the very least we do at least work on your core.
I don't believe that any particular workout discipline is the best. I think a workout built or geared for what it is you do is the best for your own individual needs, make sense? OK
For the majority of people that want to stay fit, get fit and so forth a combination of all is a great way to learn and round out your fitness regiment. Use bands for 1 or 2 weeks than switch back to weights for 1 or 2 weeks. This is keeping your muscles guessing so that they can't adjust. It's a great way to continue to shock your body, in a good way.
Remember the number 1 rule! Listen to your body. In case you feel pain or discomfort,(I don't mean your muscles just being sore) stop that exercise and ask for a modified exercise that works the same muscle group without hurting yourself.
